PFSI Roots and Facts
Dan Clayton started up PFSI in the year 2000 with two dedicated and experienced employees and has never looked back. His 34 years of foam experience is invaluable in running Polyurethane Foam Systems Inc. and invaluable when it comes to industry information and planning. He has been a member of Canadian Urethane Foam Contractors Assoc. for 22 years and on the Board of Directors for CUFCA for the last 11 years. By June 2001, three additional sales reps were on board – Lance Brunk, 16 years foam experience, Bill Honzuk, 36 years foam experience and Larry McLinden, 22 years foam experience. By October 2001 an additional sales rep – Steve Lesperance, and in the year 2005, Jack Napora, 10 years of foam experience (by now up to 5 reps) completed our national team. This hard working group is well educated in the foam business and all have attended the “School of Hard Knocks” when it comes to foaming experience. This type of training is of the utmost importance in dealing with concerns that arise in the industry. They have all been involved in our certified foam course training programs that PFSI have been running in partnership with the Canadian Urethane Foam Contractors Assoc. since 2005.
It was decided at the onset to go with a Polar Bear log with a product label of Polarfoam and we have had a lot of fun with the big white bear dubbed “Paws”. He has appeared in all our literature and walked with the famous Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest parade route for the last three years. His fuzzy figure likes to appear at our trade shows, our famous and delicious Bear-B-Q’s and is promoted on much of our correspondence.
Our flagship product – Polarfoam - leads in overall sales followed by machinery, equipment, rigs, and polyurethane foam coatings. We also sell a line of Fomo Handi Foam products and kits.
Our warehouse locations include Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Moncton and our main warehouse (over 10,000 square feet) partner with our head office - Waterloo, Ontario.
The year 2010 sees growth to 13 employees plus our consultant, Mr. Clifford Strassburger (40 years of commercial polyurethane foam experience). His extensive dealings with architects, inspectors, engineers, suppliers, chemists and contractors, along with trade show experience has proved to be priceless. We had an addition of a machine and equipment division along with foam spray rigs in August 2005, headed by Jack Napora and this busy department now boasts 4 employees.
